Time to Feast!

Today was the annual Child's World Thanksgiving feast. This is always a really fun day with lots of food and cute costumes! This year, since Jacob's in the 4 year old class, he dressed up as an indian. His name was Brave Hawk - I love how each year all the kids get indian names! They made cute vests and pasta necklaces as well. For the feast, one of the teachers, Mrs. Kathy, made turkey, corn, mashed potatoes, orange jello, green beans, and fried corn cakes (that are a lot like hush puppies) ... so yummy!!!! So sad this will be our last one!

Here is Jacob's class ... they have a new friend that has come up from the 3 year old class ... now they are a happy little group of 3!

We thoroughly enjoyed the feast as well!

Saying the pledge to the flag ... then they sing the chorus to "America The Beautiful" ... love that!

Just a Day in the LIfe of a 4 year old ... BOY!

I must put a disclaimer on this post ... it's NOT for the weak stomached ...

Life is definitely an adventure with boys. We've experienced everything from cuts, scrapes, bruises, all the way to spider bites, rashes, and goose-eggs on the forehead. But last Thursday we had a first. Jacob came in the house crying with blood all down his shirt. Riley Catherine, our neighbor, said that he and Ty had a mishap on the trampoline. After getting him to rinse out his mouth and encouraging him not to swallow the blood, I finally got to look inside and went weak-kneed when I saw his tongue! He had literally bitten a hole in it. NASTY! I remember my nephew doing the same thing back when he was little, so I knew that there would be no reason to take Jacob anywhere to be looked at. The tongue is not stitched unless the side is cut, so there was nothing to be done. What I was concerned about was stopping the massive bleeding - I had never seen anything like it - and getting Jacob comfortable enough to possibly eat a little since he hadn't had lunch yet.

Praise the Lord the bleeding stopped in about 10 minutes. He didn't eat anything until later that night, but when he did, it was no problem. His tongue is still not completely healed, but he loves showing everyone his gash! He did talk with a little lisp for a couple of days, but he's not doing that now either. So, it looks like I've survived yet another boo-boo ... chalk it up to being a mother to a 4 year old boy!

This was what his tongue looked like after it happened ... did I already say NASTY??

Here's what it looks like today ... much better, but still not healed. I think he kinda feels like it's a trophy of sorts ... boys!!!!!

Reason #265 I Love Community Bible Study

There really are a lot of reasons that I love CBS. But probably my #1 is the fact that my children have all been taught, very intentionally, each week that they attended. I've told several friends that it is worth it to me just for the children's program. It's the main reason my kids all went to preschool only on Thursday and Friday! Anyway, here's just a sample of what we get when Jacob comes home each week. Last week his story was Daniel and the Lion's Den. Check out how he says the king's name ... hysterical!!!! Also, it's not on the video, but he also told me the king's name has LOTS of letters and a bunch of z's in it ... he's right about that!

Singing in the Season ...

This past Sunday night was Blaine & Jacob's turn to sing in big church with their choirs. This was Jacob's first time singing for everyone and he LOVED it ... no surprise there! Both boys did such a great job. The songs that the teachers had picked were wonderful ... full of Scripture and also Bible truths. LOVE THAT!!! Childrens' choir is such an integral part of my childhood memories. I'm so thankful that the boys will have it as part of theirs too ...

Blaine-o's right in the middle ... he wasn't too animated, but he did sing!

A better shot of Blaine ... looks a little like 'deer in headlights', don'tcha think?!!

Jacob ... LOVIN' every minute!

He's got moves!

Jacob's big speaking part below ... I'll go ahead and give you the Closed Captioned version in case you don't catch all the words ... "Well, you don't have to wait for Thanksgiving to have a great Thank You meal!"

**SIDE NOTE: Jacob got to do this part because his choir teacher asked who wanted to talk into the microphone. He THREW up his hands and said he did ... completely not shocked at all!!
